OPCs in the Community Workshop
What is an Overdose Prevention Center? Are they effective? Is one coming to Burlington? This workshop will explore these questions and more.
There has been a lot of talk in the Burlington area recently about Overdose Prevention Centers. But what exactly is an OPC? What would Burlington’s OPC offer? Why Burlington? What are the anticipated community impacts of an OPC?
As a parent, what do I need to know about and should I be concerned? Join Dad Guild and Bella Fearn of VT Harm Reduction Advocates for a Workshop & Town Hall event to learn more about Overdoes Prevention Centers and the impact they have on communities. Bella will explain how OPCs work, share some data, and create an opportunity for caregivers to ask questions and voice their thoughts. This learning opportunity on Wednesday, January 28th from 7pm-8:30pm is available to all caregivers in the community.

On Saturday, January 31st from 7pm-9pm, Dad Guild will be hosting a community screening at the Guild Hall located in the Soda Plant. Raising Boys & What You Can Do About it
Young boys are making headlines these days, and the reasons aren’t that positive. Fewer boys are enrolling in college, many are struggling with isolation and addiction, and there are a lot of problematic messages out there telling boys they need to act tough and “suck it up.” What is the manosphere, and how do parents differentiate between positive and negative online spaces? What impact may the world have on our sons as they move through adolescence?
Join us for this evening for town-hall conversation led by author Kate Mangino

Babysitter Mingler
If only we had a nickel every time a father talked about wishing he could have an evening out with his partner, but unfortunately did not know any babysitters in the region. Well for all of you caregivers looking to meet some babysitters...we’ve got you covered.
Our first mingler event was so popular, we are doing it again. Join Dad Guild for our second Babysitter Mingler! We’ll be inviting a bunch of available babysitters to the space, and you and your family can spend some time chatting with them, seeing who is a good fit for your needs, and exchanging contact information. Please note that Dad Guild is not vouching for any of these sitters, but is creating the space for folks to connect.

Gone Guys Screening
Dad Guild is featured in the local documentary Gone Guys. We are excited to co-host a screening of it with the filmmakers this winter.
Over the past fifty years, boys and young men have steadily disengaged from school, work, and broader society. They’re falling behind academically, struggling with loneliness and isolation, and facing rising rates of substance abuse and suicide.
This 45-minute documentary draws on the influential work of Richard V. Reeves’ “Of Boys and Men”, illuminating these challenges through powerful data and compelling personal stories. Many of us have experienced these issues first-hand, but it can be difficult to talk about them. It’s not an either-or choice: caring more about boys and men does not mean caring less about women and girls.
Set in rural Vermont, the film brings national data to life with engaging animation accompanying lived experience featuring young men, educators, mentors, and trailblazing programs that are working to re-engage boys and young men in their communities and reshape their futures.
